Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a sideways curvature of the spine that can vary in degree and presentation. While some cases begin in childhood or adolescence, many adults develop functional scoliosis later in life due to posture, muscle imbalances, injury, or repetitive strain. The curve can influence how the spine moves, how muscles work to support the body, and how effectively the nervous system communicates.

Depending on the severity, scoliosis may affect posture, breathing mechanics, movement efficiency, and overall comfort. Even mild curves can create compensations throughout the neck, shoulders, ribcage, and pelvis.

Common Symtpoms

  • Uneven shoulders, hips, or ribcage rotation
  • Muscle fatigue, tightness, or back pain
  • Reduced spinal mobility or stiffness
  • Difficulty maintaining good posture
  • Discomfort with prolonged standing, sitting, or exercise
  • Occasional breathing restrictions due to ribcage imbalance
  • One-sided tension or recurring pain patterns

CFW Approach

At Center for Wellness, we focus on improving alignment, mobility, and nervous system balance to support a more functional, comfortable spine.

A personalized treatment plan for scoliosis may include:

  • Chiropractic adjustments to improve mobility in restricted segments and reduce compensatory stress
  • Craniosacral therapy to support nervous system regulation and ease tension in the spine, ribs, and supporting tissues
  • Posture-based corrective exercises to strengthen stabilizing muscles and improve balance between both sides of the body
  • Breathing and ribcage mechanics work to enhance mobility and support better alignment
  • Soft tissue and fascial release techniques to reduce asymmetrical tension patterns
  • Ergonomic and lifestyle guidance to reduce discomfort during daily activities
