Sciatica refers to pain that radiates along the path of the sciatic nerve, typically from the lower back into the glutes, hamstring, and down one leg. It occurs when the sciatic nerve becomes irritated or compressed—often due to spinal misalignment, disc bulges, tight hip or piriformis muscles, inflammation, or restricted mobility in the lower back and pelvis.
Because the sciatic nerve is the largest nerve in the body, even mild irritation can create significant discomfort or changes in movement patterns. Sciatica may develop gradually or appear suddenly after lifting, prolonged sitting, or repetitive stress.
At Center for Wellness, we address sciatica by improving alignment, reducing nerve irritation, and restoring balanced movement through the spine, pelvis, and lower body.
